Just Like That
Dave Graf makes music that goes straight to the pleasure spots in your brain. This album has something for every taste, from lush arrangements of classic tunes of Strayhorn and Kern, to Latin, to organ/guitar combos.

About Just Like That. In 2002, Artegra Records founder Warren Sampson was in search of a new recording project consistent with the label's reputation for the highest quality musicianship. Warren consulted with various members of the Twin Cities jazz community, asking “what elite musician would you like to see release a CD?” One name that kept coming up was Dave Graf. Graf's impeccable taste and fluid, lyrical style on the trombone have earned him a place of high esteem among Twin Cities jazz “insiders,” as evidenced by the A-list musicians appearing on Just Like That.
About Dave Graf. Whether the style is straight-ahead jazz, big band, or Latin, Dave Graf has long been a trombonist of choice in the Twin Cities music scene. After establishing himself on the local jazz scene, Graf spent the first half of the 1980s (1981-86) in New York, where he played and recorded with drummer Charli Persip’s “Superband” big band and many others. It was there that he also developed an affinity for Latin music, jobbing with many cumbia and salsa bands around the NYC area.
Local projects currently featuring his talents include Mulligan Stew, Apex, the JazzMN Big Band, Salsa del Soul, The Twin Cities 7, Butch Thompson's St. Paul Ragtime Orchestra and many others. He has appeared on notable recordings such as bassist Herbie Lewis’s Lucky So And So, drummer George Avaloz's The Highest Mountain, and singer Bruce Henry's Connections. Over the years Graf has also backed many touring stars like Natalie Cole, Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis, Jr., Harry Connick, Jr., Julie Andrews and Rosemary Clooney.
